Pope Francis to Muslims: "We Are Brothers"

(Rome) Pope Francis received representatives of the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, the Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies from Jordan, this morning. He described the Muslims as "brothers".

The Catholic Church leader called for "building"  the Christian-Islamic dialogue with patience: "The work that they do, is a work of building."

The Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, was the initiator of the letter of 138 Muslim representatives in 2007. It was written in response to the famous Regensburg speech of Benedict XVI.

Pope Francis: "In a meeting like this dialogue is the operative word. And dialogue means to come out - with the word and with yourself.  To say his word and hear the word of the other. Two words come together there, two thoughts. This is the first stage of the path. "

However, it wouldn't be sufficient to remain in the dialogue. Even "the hearts meet." Going from the dialogue to a "dialogue of friendship", and this leads "to a handshake." "Word, heart, hands, it is easy! Even a child understands it," the Pope said.

Francis told the representatives of Islam: "We all have a common father - we are brothers!"

The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, which is headed by Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, had planned the event.

The attitude of Pope Francis to Islam: Part of the "people of God"?

Last January, it was announced by the Vatican that Pope Francis will visit the Great Mosque of Rome after the visit to the Roman synagogue. As Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi announced the visit would take place on on April 10. Since then, nothing has been  discussed  for mosque visit.

Already in November 2015 it had been circulated by Francis is allegedlt had the intention to write an encyclical about Islam.

This past Holy Thursday, the Catholic Church leader visited a refugee center in Rome. In his address to the mostly Muslim refugees, the Pope said that the Muslims would belong to the "people of God". An equivalence of Islam was highlighted in January by the first "video of the Pope", where Islam, Judaism and Buddhism were put visually on the same level with Christianity in a message from the Pope.

  1. Both reject the truths of Jesus transmitted by the Apostles and faithfully taught by the extension of Christ on earth His holy Catholic Church. So, yes. They are brothers.

    3. Vincent you missed the point Jac was making. God is three in one and one in three. The Aramaic word for "God" in the language of Assyrian Christians is ʼĔlāhā, or Alaha. Arabic-speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Christians and Jews, use the word "Allah" to mean "God".[6] The Christian Arabs of today have no other word for "God" than "Allah".[29] (Even the Arabic-descended Maltese language of Malta, whose population is almost entirely Roman Catholic, uses Alla for "God".) Arab Christians, for example, use the terms Allāh al-ab (الله الأب) for God the Father, Allāh al-ibn (الله الابن) for God the Son, and Allāh al-rūḥ al-quds (الله الروح القدس) for God the Holy Spirit. (See God in Christianity for the Christian concept of God.)We are not idiots. We are not brothers of Islam because Islam is a lie invented by a violent killer thief liar rapist. How could anyone build anything on so rotten an example and cult leader. What makes Islam virulent is violence and polygamy.

Plagiarism? did he try to profit from what he wrote? Let's see you go after Martin Luther King for his rip offs of Tilich, or your hero, JFK for pooching off Cicero. Your selective indignation, and straining at John Fisher, doesn't work here.

Let's pretend, Mincey, you are right about everything you ever wrote here. So what if he plagiarized? Let's get, as yhou and your cellmates would call it, the "dialog" rolling.

    24. After you give off venting, moralizing and projecting your own fantasies, you might just ponder the state of affairs in your end of conservative blogdom.
Earlier, I posted a cut and pasted a section of Mundabor's latest piece of dribbling free association in which he utterly dismissed the very people who are lionized here as the savors of Catholicism: Burke, Mueller, Brandmueller, Sarah and others. Mundabor's hatred and contempt for them surpasses the same levels of bats' bile he sprays at 'the Evil Clown' his code for Pope Francis.
Some of your followers on this blog are now well and truly in the same state of mind, heart and spirit as Mundabor.

Take a look at the catalog of Pope Francis badmouthers you post without any attempt to moderate or correct. That means, in effect, that you condone or passively accept these views. You have put yourself in a very dangerous place as far as Catholicism is concerned and an extremely vulnerable place as far as moral responsibility and accountability are concerned. The expressly anti-Francis wing of conservative Catholicism is terminally fragmenting right now and more and more of those who don't have the inner resources to deal with complexity, nuance and difference in theological and liturgical matters are quickly drifting off into either explicit or de facto sede-vacantism. If you have any wits, you would know those to whom I refer.
Think about these things and don't just react.

    27. Speak for yourself, Tancred. Claiming universals like 'nobody' is not only disingenuous, it's dangerous. The projection of one's personal insecurities and delusions never work for long before they are exposed and named for what they are. Most of the people who post on this site and others like it are under going right now a quite dramatic and catastrophic personality disintegration.

Mundabor, Ray Blake, Zuhlsdorf, Hunwicke, the Rorate brigade, Remnant, First Things, the Acton crowd and others are clear examples of people who have gone from wherever they were to deposit their pathologies into the most sterile form of antiquarianism imaginable. That's what happens when people confuse Christ with an ideology.

In time, you may come to understand and appreciate this.

    29. Take an honest look around your part of the Conservative Catholic enclave. There is no theologian of any note who articulates a coherent, congruent and persuasive argument for practically any position espoused by most people on this board.
Your clientele has lost confidence in the Cardinals Twelve, or was it Thirteen, who ostensibly successfully defended orthodoxy at the Synods? They're not here, they are sitting under Pope Francis big tent of Consensus. They know the Tradition, real orthodoxy, where it starts and ends while most of the people and groups I mentioned in the past posting do not. A huge number of those you and your friends identify with are converts who have come from either agnosticism or Protestantism straight to the most unenlightened branch of conservatism and avoiding Catholicism on the way through.

What you are attempting to defend here has nothing to do with Catholicism, Faith, Orthodoxy or even God, it has everything to do with an exotic porridge of quaint, psychologically deviant, undemocratic, monarchicalism with its elitist social class systems, entitlement of many kinds and stolen wealth. Jesus Christ and his Gospel do not have a home in that cosmos.

You need to understand all this very clearly, otherwise there will be no growth in authentic faith and genuine inner freedom.

  3. If the contemporary magisterium does not claim to be able to judge exceptions to the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus, if they cannot judge that there is known salvation outside the Church, if they will stop making this objective error, then it would mean all Muslims need to formally convert into the Catholic Church, to avoid the fires of Hell.-Lionel Andrades

Moral and faith teachings have been changed by the contemporary magisterium by assuming we can judge what only God can judge
